Teton Village Ski House
The Client had a strong vision for a stealthy, linear volume sheltered in zinc which provided the design intent for the residence. The stunning site, wedged into the mountainside, was a provoking challenge with the goal of preserving the calm, uncluttered environment.
The three-story, three bedroom, five bathroom home is flanked on the South side by a deck that provides a connection to the natural world by hovering over the seasonal stream running through the property.
Taking notes from Scandinavian design, the residence prioritizes light and airy spaces to make the most of the limited daylight during winter months. The linear design created an opportunity for large windows on both the East and West side, allowing light to penetrate the interior spaces. The interior materials were chosen to blend and balance warmth and coolness. Carrying the natural wood from the exterior to the interior of the building provides warmth while the steel and dark woods offer coolness and a modern edge.
