Castle Valley Casita
The modest casita is simple, resilient yet perfectly aligned with place. A local Jackson climbing couple wanted to create a house on their desert property in Castle Valley. This house was designed to reflect the intense beautiful of the valley but also provide protection against it’s elements. It was also essential that the house would be casual and down to earth to match the Clients’ lifestyle.
The amazing valley inspired the house design with intentional window placement and organic natural elements incorporated into the design. Large beautiful rocks prevalent on the site blend the edges of the patios and blur the distinction between in and out.
Energy modeling and sun studies helped generated the overhangs and outdoor spaces that also provide protection from the harsh sun and wind of the beautiful valley. T The rusted corrugated siding is durable yet blends the house into the red desert context.
