R Park

Rendezvous Park, or R Park as locals call it, is Teton County’s first nonprofit-run park. Open to all, the site was once a gravel pit and is now a place where kids can learn to fish, identify birds, or scramble along Mama Mimi’s outstretched legs.

Park amenities include a welcome structure where R Park staff can greet visitors, offer tours and provide a space and shelter for groups. Along with the new caretaker’s unit (concept floor plan seen here) which houses an on-site ambassador to monitor the park year-round, all structures were designed in collaboration with the Jackson Hole Land Trust (JHLT).

The process started with the collaboration with multiple parties on a master plan which allowed the design team to think strategically about how the community would use the park. This roadmap for future use and growth provided a long-term vision and framework that guided all design decisions.

The end product resulted in a park and structure that has its own consistent and playful language that compliments the natural environment - from signage to siting and architecture.
