April 21st is World Creativity and Innovation Day
The United Nations designated April 21 World Creativity and Innovation Day, a day to embrace creative problem-solving, artistic expression, innovation, and sustainable solutions.
From the United Nations:
On World Creativity and Innovation Day, the world is invited to embrace the idea that innovation is essential for harnessing the economic potential of nations. Innovation, creativity and mass entrepreneurship can provide new momentum towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It can harness economic growth and job creation, while expanding opportunities for everyone, including women and youth. It can provide solutions to some of the most pressing problems such as poverty eradication and the elimination of hunger. Human creativity and innovation, at both the individual and group levels, have become the true wealth of nations in the twenty-first century. (Source)
GYDE is driven by the mantra design in everything. Meaning, we approach each project as a unique opportunity to listen and learn from our clients so we can co-create innovative solutions. Some days, that might be rethinking the entryway to a restaurant, or working with large teams on community projects.
The Ice House and Simpson House projects are whimsical examples that use materials to make small, simple spaces feel more spacious and dynamic. GYDE partnered with Windsor Fiberglass to create a new type of sustainable siding, Twicc tiles. These specially shaped composite panels break up the static, boxy shape of Ice House and create wavelike movement. Because of their design and six distinct tile shapes, they can be placed in many different configurations to create endless pattern possibilities, making no two walls the same. The tiles’ shapes passively cool the home, and their durability and low cost of production make them an excellent long-term investment in sustainability.
So, this April 21, as we do every day of the year, we delight in celebrating the power of creativity and innovation to solve problems and create spaces and places that take us to new heights and inspire thoughtful reflection.
